Achieving a healthy approach to your sex life

Concerns related to sexual health affect us regardless of age or gender. Both men and women can achieve a healthy sexual lifestyle provided that they are open with their partner and take the right steps to have fun and stay safe. Sexual health care is a term which can be used to encompass a number of topics all of which need some attention to achieve the right balance of sexual wellbeing. Maintaining good sexual health care requires the basics of correct nutrition, regular exercise and full health check ups. The rest follows from here. The main health factors for everyone to consider are sexually transmitted diseases, libido and sexual dysfunctions, and birth control. Male impotence is a sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection. Underlying causes can be organic (for example damage to nerves in the spinal cord, or damage to prostate nerves, or diabetes, which decrease blood flow to the penis) or psychological (stress, or performance anxiety). Many people find treating sexual dysfunction very embarrassing even though for most men the condition is medically reversible and cura farmacologica per impotenza da farmacia italiana are very effective.

A healthy relationship needs to be respectful, understanding and open. Talk to your partner about sexually transmitted diseases and both get tested before you have unprotected or non-barrier protected sex. Sexually transmitted illnesses are on the up and many infections are silent or symptomless. The repercussions of contracting a STD can be life changing so never have unprotected sex with a stranger or un-tested partner. Practising safe sex is not boring and will not ruin the quality of sex you have.

Birth control and contraception are not to be ignored. With 15 different types available there will be one type best suited to you and your circumstances. Some forms of contraception will only prevent you from becoming pregnant, but will not protect you against sexually transmitted infections. Discuss your options with your partner and GP. (more...)

Pay attention to health

Good erectile function does require you to be in tip top physical and mental condition. Erections occur naturally, and it seems a simple almost automatic process to most, but behind an erection is a series of complex processes involving the brain and cardiovascular systems. For full erectile function a man has to be in the right frame of mind and be fit and healthy so blood flow is not obstructed. If you have any health problems physical or mental visit your GP for advice and treatment. (more...)

Buying prescription medicines over the internet with or without a prescription

The purpose of this article is to explain the various ways in which you can obtain prescription medicines (POMs or Prescription Only Medication) online. Essentially we are talking about two scenarios. Scenario one is where you have an existing prescription which has been issued by your regular doctor. Scenario 2 is where you do not have an existing prescription and you are seeking to obtain one without a face to face checkup. Scenario one means it is possible to order prescription medicines over the internet with a prescription, scenario two means it is possible to order prescription medicines without a prescription. Let’s take the first scenario and say you have a regular prescription for Lipitor, the anti-cholesterol treatment. Step one is to find a pharmacy that is able to accept your prescription. These days (2010), there are dozens of online pharmacies to choose from, all of whom offer a comparable service. The most important thing to check is that the pharmacy is registered with the relevant regulatory authority which in the United Kingdom is the newly formed GPC (General Pharmaceutical Council), whose regulatory powers were performed formerly by the RPSGB, the Royal Pharmaceutical Council. All GPC registered pharmacies should carry the online pharmacy kitemark or logo but probably the best tip for the wary is to give the pharmacy a quick call just to confirm they pick up the phone as much as anything else. order prescription medicines over the internet

Once you have found your pharmacy, you will normally be required to set up an account and then you will be given instructions where to send your prescription. Most pharmacies are happy to accept both NHS and private prescriptions and if it is a regular prescription, your pharmacy will be happy to set up an automatic repeat service. This is obviously a huge benefit if you live in a far flung out of the way location and there are definitely savings to be made if you have a private prescription and you shop around.

The situation is entirely different with the second scenario. In this situation, you need to find an “online clinic” sometimes also known as an “online consultation service” or an online “private prescription service” or “online doctor”. A search for any of these terms should find a reliable service. Unlike pharmacies, online consultation services do not have their own regulatory body and so it can be difficult to tell whether the service is genuine. The United Kingdom, perhaps more than any other country in the European Union, seems to have embraced the world of online prescribing and the regulatory authorities have caught up fast in terms of ensuring that the services which do exist are genuine. New miracle weight loss pill

Until now, treatments prescribed by medical practitioners have shown consistent, but only perdere peso in modo graduale e sano potential which for many overweight and obese patients is not enough. Drugs like Xenical and Alli which are manufactured by Roche and GlaxoSmithKline respectively can help patients lose 5% of their total body weight in a 6 month period. For those with obesity associated medical complications such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol, looking for fast results the two medications, which both contain the same active ingredient Orlistat, may not provide the ideal quick acting solution.

A new weight loss drug which promises to help people lose weight faster than ever before is currently being developed in the US by Zafgen, a small pharmaceutical company. The new drug known as ZGN-433 is in the early stages of testing, but has already shown some encouraging results. The weight loss pill branded a “miracle” cure is exactly what weight loss patients have long been waiting for as it promises to help to shed weight quickly with minimal effort.

The exact science behind the treatment developed by Zafgen has yet to be revealed, but it is believed to reduce insulin resistance, a naturally occurring chemical process which is directly linked to weight gain. Clinical trials involving 24 obese US women showed that ZGN-433 could help shift as much as 1kg every week without any extra effort on the part of the patient. This amount of weight loss induced by medication is unprecedented, and crucially is deemed to be safe. If approved for general release, ZGN-433 will become the most powerful weight loss drug on the market, topping the current number one weight loss drug Xenical Orlistat – but is ZGN-433 the answer? Antimalaria medicines – are you ready?

Are you going on holiday this year? I bet if you are you’ve already decided how you’re getting there, where you’re staying, what you’re going to see and do and perhaps even what clothes you want to bring with you. But, have you put any thought into which precautionary health measures might be needed for your trip? No? If you’re visiting a destination outside of the EU it is likely that the standards of healthcare will be much lower than they are at home and this makes it all the more important for you to travel prepared. The first thing any responsible traveller does is take out comprehensive travel insurance. Travel insurance will pay for any emergency health care you may need whilst you are away from home and will also cover the cost of repatriating to you if you are unable to travel on your scheduled return flight. The second thing to do is take care of all precautionary travel medicine. If you are travelling to a malaria risk zone you should ensure you have suitable antimalarial tablets for the area you will be staying in. You should check with your pharmacist or doctor before purchasing treatments especially if you will be going to a chloroquine resistant area as some strains of malaria are resistant to certain prophylaxis treatments.

Around three weeks before you travel visit your GP to make sure any necessary vaccinations are up to date. Typical vaccinations for travel to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Central and Latin America include: typhoid, hepatitis A and B, tuberculosis and tetanus. The vast majority of these vaccinations can be done free of charge and through your NHS doctor; others like the Yellow Fever vaccine are very expensive and must be paid for by the traveller. Your GP may also be able to prescribe malaria tablets to you, however you should expect to pay for the medications yourself.

There are a number of other precautionary health products you may wish to purchase prior to leaving home and these are simple medicinal remedies designed to treat the most common travel problems in the quickest and easiest way. Traveller’s diarrhoea is an illness which affects almost half of all travellers, yet many people just accept it as an inevitable side effect of their journey. Whilst diarrhoea is unpleasant in most cases it is thankfully relatively harmless. If however you find it lasts for more than 3 or 4 days and does not seem to be showing signs of improvement you may benefit from taking a wide-spectrum antibiotic. Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin can help kill the bacteria causing diarrhoea, so you can continue to travel worry free.

Infertility – another side effect of obesity

20 million men and women in France are obese. Thanks to extensive awareness campaigns most people know about the health dangers of Übergewicht such as cardiovascular diseases, sleep apnea and diabetes to name but a few. New studies have now revealed that obesity brings with it a risk of infertility as well. The French study published at a congress held in Stockholm by the European Society of Human Reproduction claims that a morbidly obese man is less fertile than a man of normal weight since the seminal fluid contains less spermatozoa.

The study was conducted among 1940 French from 18 to 24 at the end of the year 2010. It is "the largest study ever conducted" on the subject say the representatives of Unilabs, which includes a Swiss conglomerate of laboratories from 12 European countries. A body mass index (BMI, which is the weight divided by the square of height) greater than 30 is obese if it is between 25.5 and 30, it counts as overweight, between 18 and 25 is the normal weight range and below 18 is downright skinny. However, the study showed that there was an obvious correlation between obesity and the risk of infertility: the more overweight, the poorer sperm quality.

The concentration of sperm decreased by 10% for overweight patients compared to those of normal weight and collapses to 20% in the obese, in which sperm motility is also down 10%. (more...)

Premature ejaculation: when prostatitis is to blame

Prostatitis, that is an inflammation of the prostate gland, is a problem which affects men between the ages of 18 and 45. Symptoms of the condition include: high fever, shivering and difficulty urinating (in the worst cases); whilst pain, pressure on the area, increase frequency of urination and a burning sensation are typical of a chronic problem. In some cases, however, the problems previously listed do not manifest and men are faced with an altogether very different symptom: eiaculazione precoce .

It is now well known amongst medical professionals that prostatitis can be a cause of sexual dysfunction. In fact, inflammation of the prostate occurs in 56.5% of all individuals suffering from premature ejaculation; of these 47.8% were affected by bacterial prostatitis.

This discovery underlines the belief that premature ejaculation is not just a problem which is all “in the head”, but rather that there are some concrete physiological causes behind the condition. This is further food for thought for those suffering from PE and a good reason to visit your doctor for a complete check-up. Whilst erection problems are embarrassing, they frequently mask serious issues which cannot be ignored in the longer run without being of detriment to the sufferer. (more...)
